Easter 2017 at Trinity

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4, ESV
Well, we have just concluded another wonderful Holy Week. Millions of believers all across the world gathered once again to celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At Trinity, we enjoyed an especially beautiful week reflecting upon the significance of the final events of Christ first advent. It was wonderful to see well over 150 people gathered on Good Friday evening at 7 PM to reflect upon the sacrifice of God’s Son. Pastor Jerry did a wonderful job of leading us in a worshipful night and helping us to reflect upon God’s plan of redemption from Acts 2.
On Saturday, nearly 50 men gathered at a local restaurant to enjoy breakfast and hear Pastor John talk about “The Shepherd’s Rod and Staff.” It was great to see tables filled with men of all ages spending time together around God’s word.
Easter Sunday was absolutely amazing at Trinity! God provided a gorgeous day with temperatures that reached into the 80s. About 100 people gathered at Maidencreek Park at 6:45 AM for our sunrise service. Once again, Pastor John shared, this time from Luke 24 about Christ’s resurrection appearance to two men on the road to Emmaus. It appeared that everyone who came out to the park early on Easter Sunday truly experienced a blessing from the Lord.
Many returned to the church and were joined by others for a delicious breakfast which had been organized by our food committee. If there’s one thing we know how to do at Trinity it is eat! All kidding aside, the faithful and servant hearts of this committee are truly appreciated and everyone seemed to really enjoy the breakfast. In addition, the youth group organized a photo booth where families or groups could pose for a serious (or silly!) Easter photo. The photo booth was a hit!
The culmination of our Easter week was our Sunday worship service at 9:15 AM. Nearly 300 people gathered for worship and were led in beautiful music by our worship leaders. My Easter message was entitled “The Undying Life” from Romans 6:1-14. Our focus was upon the amazing reality that through our spiritual union with Jesus Christ, as Paul says, “…we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his” (Rom. 6:5). I pointed out the fact that this truth bears upon our present relationship with God, and not just our future. We have already been raised with Christ out of spiritual death through repentance of sin and trust in Christ’s perfect work on the cross. I challenged the church to let the message of Easter change our daily experience of God in the world. Let me finish by thanking all those who joined us for Easter 2017 at Trinity! We had a number of guests over the weekend and were blessed to serve each and every person who came through our doors. I’d also like to invite you back to Trinity next Sunday at 9:15 AM as we continue in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. Come and be a part of something special that God is doing among us!
With love in the RISEN Christ,
Pastor Dan
